What a great start to our 2004 whitetail season. 1st buck of the year belongs to Chuck Norton. Chuck was hunting at the Beatty camp and bagged this 164 and change buck the first morning only 20 minutes into the hunt. Guide was Gomer. Great Buck! |

Wayne shot this buck on Wednesday at about 2:00 PM. He did not have a very good hit, Melvin and a few of the guides went to look for it and Reg busted it up. They decided to leave it overnight and Melvin and Wayne headed out the next morning to look for it. Melvin figured they went 5 miles tracking this deer. Melvin was on his hands and knees at time and would not give up. Through there tracking they came upon a deer and Melvin told his hunter that there was his deer. Getting close to the deer, Wayne noticed that the deer had a really small body and no horns. The buck he wounded gored the doe to death. There were no bullet holes, just puncture wounds from the buck. I guess he was not in a good mood. They kept after the buck and reached a clearing and spotted him and this time Wayne's aim was true. An amazing deer and amazing determination on Melvin and Wayne's part. Way to go guys. This is a high 170 class buck. Thanks Melvin. |

I went home last week from Green Lake to see my hunters in Paradise Hill. I remembered that night that I had been drawn for Mule deer. My youngest son Ian, did not have school on this day either so we decided to go out for a couple hours to see if we would have some luck. We saw two other good Mulies and then Ian spotted this one. He is a 15 pointer and I was pumped to get him, exspecially with Ian being there. It was special and I look forward to the day that I can watch my two boys harvest there first deer. |

We would like to thank Troy Ruiz & Jimmy Primos for coming up to Buck Paradise to do a last week hunt with us. We were all rewarded when this 150 class 8 pointer walked in on Jimmy & Troy on the 4th day of there hunt. On day 3 they passed up on a 155 10 point with stickers and kickers, split G-2s with great mass. They figured him out to be a 3 1/2 year old deer and they would have harvested him but he was missing a brow time and had some other points broken off. There was no doubt he was a young deer and that is the main reason they passed him. Troy's tip to all of our hunters. Hunt all day "Be Patient" . I am sure glad they did. Also special thanks to my brother Dean for the great job he did setting up another good spot for the camera. Keep an eye out for this hunt on the outdoor channel and Primos "Truth about Hunting" videos.
